     Roangchhari Upazila is an underdeveloped and backward area in the Bandarban Hill District inhabited by various small ethnic groups. Due to the steep hills and friendly natural features, conducting development activities here is a difficult reality. In addition, the condition of the existing road from the district headquarters to Roangchhari has been in a dangerous condition for so long and the communication system here was very bad. As the road repair work has been completed recently under the supervision of Bandarban Road Department, it has become much easier to travel from Bandarban District Sadar to Roangchhari Upazila Sadar. This upazila, which is only 20 km away from the district headquarters, lags far behind in all other fields including education. There is only one educational institution at the secondary level. Teachers do not want to stay here because of the underdeveloped environment. So even if teachers are posted here, the tendency of them to go elsewhere through lobbying is particularly noticeable. Due to underdeveloped communication system and lack of awareness of the local people, there has not been much development in all fields including industry, trade and tourism.
